New Release: Elaine Paige Celebrating 40 Years on Stage DVD

On July 20, 2010, PBS released the DVD set Elaine Paige: Celebrating 40 Years on Stage, wherein the First Lady of British Musical Theatre celebrates her 40th anniversary in show business with a 2009 performance filmed at the State Theatre in Sydney, Australia.

In what is the singer’s first filmed concert since 1991, Elaine Paige performs a collection of songs from such musicals as Evita, Chess, Cats, Anything Goes, Piaf, Sunset Boulevard, The King and I and more, all of which she has delivered on both the Broadway and in the theatres of London’s West End.

The hour-long, 23-song program was priced at $24.94 on DVD and includes a half-hour interview with Ms. Paige, as well as a bonus song.

Also available for purchase is a companion CD recording of the performance, which lists for $13.99.

Page is a multiple award winner, taking home such honors as the HMV Lifetime Achievement Award in 1996, the Lifetime Achievement National Operatic and Dramatic Association award in 1999 and Variety Club Awards in 1978 (Showbusiness Personality of the Year), 1986 (Recording Artiste of the Year), 1995 (Best Actress of the Year) and 2009 (Special Presentation for 40 Years on Stage).
