New Release: MacGruber DVD and Blu-ray

MacGruber movie sceneBased on the Saturday Night Live sketch that makes fun of the 1980s TV show MacGyver, comedy movie MacGruber came and went in theaters with a dismal $4 million gross. The film came out on DVD and Blu-ray on Sept. 7, 2010, from Universal Studios Home Entertainment.

MacGruber was released in two-disc sets on DVD and Blu-ray, with both the theatrical version of the comedy and an unrated version that’s four minutes longer.

About a mullet-sporting operative who comes out of retirement to find a stolen nuclear warhead, MacGruber also stars Saturday Night Live veteran Kristen Wiig (Extract), Ryan Phillippe (Crash) and Val Kilmer (Tombstone).

In the TV show that the movie spoofs, Richard Dean Anderson played MacGyver, a secret agent who solved cases with plenty of resourcefulness and Duct tape.
