The blockbuster follow-up to 2008’s original theatrical hit, Iron Man 2 was released on DVD and Blu-ray on Sept. 28, 2010, from Paramount Home Entertainment.
The science-fiction film, which grossed more than $300 million in the box office, stars Robert Downey Jr. (Sherlock Holmes) as Tony Stark, a.k.a Iron Man, and Gwyneth Paltrow (Seven) as his loving assistant. Added to the franchise with this movie are Scarlett Johansson (The Black Dahlia) as the Black Widow, Sam Rockwell (Charlie’s Angels, Moon) as an evil competitor and Mickey Rourke (The Expendables) as the vengeful Whiplash. In the sequel, Stark’s Iron Man must save the world from destructive robots built by Rourke, all while battling his own health and the government.
Iron Man 2 debuted as a two-DVD set and Blu-ray/DVD combo pack, both priced at $39.99, as well as a single DVD for $29.99. The movie also was made available for digital download the same day.
All discs include a commentary by director Jon Favreau (Elf).
Both the two-DVD and Blu-ray/DVD combo sets include:
- four deleted scenes, including an alternate opening, with optional commentary by Favreau
- music video for AC/DC’s “Shoot to Thrill”
- featurettes “Creating Stark Expo” and “Practical Meets Digital”
- and a downloadable digital copy of the movie.
The Blu-ray/DVD combo pack also contain:
- previsualization and animatics
- S.H.I.E.L.D. Data Vault, with case files, dossiers, training films and tech details for select scenes in the movie
- four-part documentary Ultimate Iron Man: The Making of Iron Man 2, including “Rebuilding the Suit,” “A Return to Action,” “Expanding the Universe” and “Building a Legacy”
- featurettes “Illustrated Origin: Nick Fury,” “Illustrated Origin: Black Widow,” “Illustrated Origin: War Machine” and “Working With DJ AM,” in which Favreau remembers working with Adam Goldstein
- concept art gallery
- and four more deleted/extended scenes.
