A Charlie Brown Chrismas

Warner Home Video released what it calls “one of the most extensive Peanuts seasonal DVD sets to date” on Nov. 16, 2010: the Peanuts Holiday Collection Ultimate Collector’s Edition Blu-ray/DVD combo pack.

Priced at $69.97, the Peanuts Holiday Collection includes three prime time specials starring Snoopy, Woodstock and Charlie Brown:

  • A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, in which Peppermint Patty invites herself to Charlie Brown’s house for Thanksgiving dinner.
  • It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, the Emmy Award-nominated special in which the Peanuts gang dresses in costumes for Halloween trick or treating, while Linus stakesout the pumpkin patch waiting for the Great Pumpkin.
  • and A Charlie Brown Christmas, the Emmy and Peabody Award-winning classic in which Charlie Brown is upset by how commercial Christmas has become and, to cheer him up, Lucy suggests he directs the school’s Christmas pageant and decorate the tree.

The six-disc set (three Blu-ray discs and three DVDs) also includes three bonus episodes:

  • It’s Magic, Charlie Brown, in which Snoopy puts on a magic show with Marcie and Sally as his assistant and makes Charlie Brown disappear.
  • The Mayflower Voyagers, an episode from the This is America, Charlie Brown series, in which the Peanuts gang are pilgrims sailing to the New World about the Mayflower.
  • and It’s Chrismastime Again, Charlie Brown, in which Charlie Brown sells wreaths door-to-door to make extra money, while the entire Peanuts crew appears in a Christmas pageant.

Fellow Peanuts TV special It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown got its Blu-ray debut on Sept. 7, 2010.
