New Release: Legacy DVD

Legacy movie scene with Idris ElbaBritish actor Idris Elba, who has been making a name for himself Stateside in TV shows The Office, The Wire and The Big C as well as action movies The Losers and Takers, returned to DVD in independent film Legacy on Dec. 28, 2010.

Released by Codeblack Entertainment, the psychological thriller stars Elba as a black ops soldier who’s captured and tortured when a military effort to bring down an international arms dealer goes wrong. When he finally gets back to his Brooklyn apartment, he reflects on the assignment and starts to question the loyality of his brother, a popular U.S. senator who’s about to launch a campaign for President.

R-rated Legacy had a brief run in theaters in October 2010. The movie also was shown at film festivals around the world, including the Glasgow Film Festival, Tribeca Film Festival and Chicago International Film Festival.

It’s the second movie written and directed by British filmmaker Thomas Ikini and also stars William Hope (British TV’s MI-5), Monique Gabriela Curnen (TV’s Lie to Me), Clarke Peters (TV’s Treme) and Richard Brake (Batman Begins).

The DVD was priced at $19.99.
