New Release: Memento 10th Anniversary Blu-ray

Memento movie scene with Guy PearceThe film that put Inception‘s Christopher Nolan on the writer/director A list, Memento, arrived on Blu-ray on Feb. 22, 2011, in a 10th Anniversary edition priced at $19.99 from Lionsgate. A DVD version also was released, priced at $14.98.

Starring Guy Pearce (The King’s Speech) as a man who has lost his short-term memory, Memento was nominated for two Academy Awards (best editing and best original screenplay). The 2000 thriller film won an American Film Institute Award for Nolan’s screenplay, as well as four Independent Spirit Awards (best director, best film, best screenplay and best supporting actress Carrie-Anne Moss ), among other honors.

In the R-rated movie, which is told in a fractured time-line, Pearce hunts for the man he thinks killed his wife, using notes and tattoos as a substitute for his memory. Moss (The Matrix) and Joe Pantoliano (TV’s The Sopranos) try to fill in the gaps.

The Memento 10th Anniversary Blu-ray includes these special features:

  • Nolan’s script
  • commentary with Nolan
  • the original short story that inspired the film
  • and a new featurette with Nolan discussing the legacy of the film.

This is not the high-definition debut of Memento. The film was released on Blu-ray in 2006 by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, but that version includes only the commentary and an “Anatomy of a Scene” featurette.
