New Release: Sharktopus DVD and Blu-ray

A creature feature so delightfully outlandish that it could only have been produced by Roger Corman (Galaxy of Terror), Sharktopus arrived on DVD and Blu-ray on March 15, 2011, from Anchor Bay Entertainment.

In the monster movie, an eight-tentacled nightmare hybrid of shark and octopus, the sharktopus “S-11,” was created by genetic scientist Nathan Sands (Eric Roberts, Crimes of the Past) as the U.S. Navy’s next super-weapon. But when its control implants are damaged during a training experiment, the beast escapes to Puerto Vallarta and starts to have a grand meal of bikini babes, jet-skiers and spring-breakers. With the ocean terror out of control and seemingly invincible, a ragtag trio of saviors comes together to stop the unholy beast from turning a seaside tourist resort into the ultimate human buffet. But it won’t be easy… of course.

Directed by Declan O’Brien (Monster Ark), Sharktopus premiered on the Syfy Channel in September to strong ratings (2.5 million viewers tuned in to watch the monster in action) and lots of online affection.

The Sharktopus DVD and Blu-ray discs carry the list prices of $19.98 and $24.99, respectively.

Special features include a commentary track by producers Roger and Julie Corman.
