In time for Easter, Lionsgate delivered two Bible-based children’s movies on high-definition Blu-ray. Both The Miracle Maker and Jonah: A VeggieTales Movie were released on Blu-ray on March 8, 2011.

Relaying the story of the life of Jesus Christ in clay animation, The Miracle Maker features the voices of Ralph Fiennes, Miranda Richardson (both in the Harry Potter series), William Hurt (Robin Hood), Julie Christie (Finding Neverland), Ian Holm (the Lord of the Rings series) and Alfred Molina (The Sorcerer’s Apprentice).

Jonah: A VeggieTales Movie

In animated Jonah: A VeggieTales Movie, the Biblical tale of Jonah and the whale is told by Bob the Tomato, Larry the Cucumber and the rest of the VeggieTales gang. Spreading the message that the best gift you can give or get is a second chance, Jonah was the first full-length movie featuring the characters from the VeggieTales TV episodes.

The Miracle Maker and Jonah were both released as Blu-ray/DVD combo packs, each priced at $19.99.

Both include a number of special features, including on Jonah:

  • audio commentaries
  • music videos
  • behind-the-scenes footage
  • and family activities.
