New Release: The Next Three Days DVD and Blu-ray

The Next Three Days movie sceneRussell Crowe’s (Gladiator, Robin Hood) drama movie The Next Three Days arrived on DVD and Blu-ray on March 8, 2011, from Lionsgate.

A thriller written and directed by Paul Haggis (Crash), the film follows John Brennan (Crowe) as he tries to break his wife Lara (Elizabeth Banks, The 40-Year-Old Virgin) out of prison. Convicted of murder — a murder she insists she didn’t commit — Lara is doing a life sentence and has run out of appeals. So, John decides that the only way to reunite her with their young son is to free her himself.

The crime drama also stars Liam Neeson (The A-Team), Brian Dennehy (Cocoon) and Daniel Stern (Home Alone).

Rated PG-13, The Next Three Days grossed $21 million when it ran in theaters, less than most movie’s starring Crowe, but that gives it the chance of being a sleeper on DVD and Blu-ray.

The DVD and Blu-ray was priced at $29.95 and $39.99, respectively, and the Blu-ray is a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack with a downloadable digital copy.

The DVD and Blu-ray/DVD combo pack have these special features:

  • making-of featurette
  • deleted and extended scenes
  • funny cast moments
  • featurette that looks at the men of the film
  • and a featurette about true prison breaks that have been done in the name of love.
