Weeds Season 6 TV show sceneStill going strong on Showtime, TV comedy Weeds isn’t what it was in the first couple seasons, when Mary Louise Parker’s (Red) Nancy Botwin was selling pot in the suburbs to make ends meet as a single mother. But it’s still funny and sexy, and the DVD continues the laughs in the special features.

In season six, Parker’s Nancy and her family are on the run … again … this time from the law, a journalist and her husband’s drug cartel. They decide to reinvent themselves with new names and jobs in a hotel: maid, cook, bellboy — it’s a far cry from the ‘burbs.

All 13 episodes from the season are included in the three-DVD set, and many include commentaries with the cast and crew, including show creator Jenji Kohan, actors Justin Kirk (See You in September), Kevin Nealon (Remarkable Power), Hunter Parrish (It’s Complicated) and Alexander Gould (How to Eat Fried Worms) and others, but no Parker.

Parker only shows up in the gag reel, which is actually the funniest extra in the package. Watching Nealon having trouble taking duct tape off his mouth is hilarious.

The DVDs also include three featurettes, all hosted by Kirk, who’s in his usual deadpan style. In “Fandamonium: Weeds Creators Tell All,” Kirk interviews Kohan and executive producers Roberto Benabib and Matthew Salsberg, asking questions from fans, such as how they stand on recreational use of marijuana. (They’re pro. “Legalize, regulate and tax it,” says Kohan.)

Kirk and Nealon quip back and forth in “Kevin Nealon & Justin Kirk: What Do We Have Left to Say?” The title is appropo, as two actors don’t really seem to have much to say.

Finally, in “Bye-Bye Botwins,” the actors and crew talk about season six and the changes the characters go through.
