The Other Woman movie scene

Natalie Portman attempts to connect with stepson Charlie Tahan in The Other Woman.

Natalie Portman, winner of the Best Actress Academy Award for her performance in Black Swan, stars in the 2009 drama The Other Woman, which arrived on Blu-ray and DVD from IFC on May 17, 2011.

Written and directed by Don Roos (The Opposite of Sex) and based on the 2006 novel by Ayelet Waldman (entitled Love and Other Impossible Pursuits), the movie also stars Scott Cohen (Love and Other Drugs), Charlie Tahan (Meskada) and Lisa Kudrow (Easy A).

Ms. Portman portrays the titular “Other Woman,” Emilia, a law school graduate who falls in love with her married boss, Jack (Cohen). The two eventually marry, but Emilia’s happiness turns to grief following the death of their newborn daughter. Devastated by the loss, Emilia tries to move onward as she attempts to forge a relationship with her stepson William (Tahan) and tries to resist the interference of Jack’s angry, jealous ex-wife Carolyne (Kudrow).

The Other Woman sat on the shelf for a while before receiving a limited theatrical release in February 2011, inspired undoubtedly by Portman’s Oscar victory and surrounding whirl of publicity.

The film’s Blu-ray and DVD carry the list prices of $29.98 and $24.98, respectively.
