New Release: The Mechanic DVD and Blu-ray

Another The MechanicJason Statham movie featuring a gun and a bunch of dangerous situations arrived on DVD and Blu-ray on May 17, 2011. Nope it’s not another Transporter. It’s Sony Pictures Home Entertainment‘s The Mechanic.

Statham does his usual schtick in this new film, which grossed a tidy $97.5 million in theaters. Rated R, the movie stars Statham as an assassin with a strict code known as a “mechanic.” When his mentor (Donald Sutherland, The Pillars of the Earth) is murdered, Statham goes into revenge mode. But this time, he has a partner when Sutherland’s son (Ben Foster, The Messenger) asks Statham to teach him the assassination trade. Action and bullets ensue.

The DVD was priced at $28.95 and the Blu-ray at $34.95.

Sony kept the special features menus light. The DVD includes only deleted scenes, and the Blu-ray has deleted and Sony’s MovieIQ interactive trivia feature.

The Mechanic was made available for download the same day.
