The British science-fiction TV show Torchwood gained a good following in the U.S., breaking ratings records for BBC America. On July 19, 2011, Warner Home Video issued BBC’s Torchwood: The Complete Original UK Series on DVD and Blu-ray.
The television series stars John Barrowman (TV’s Desperate Housewives) as Captain Jack Harkness, who heads up a division that goes into the unknown to fight the impossible. It’s an on-its-own unit, working outside the government, the police and the United Nations, and working by its own rules.
The release was timed for the debut of a U.S. version of the series, which was made for Starz.
The 14-DVD, 12-disc Blu-ray set includes all the episodes of the first and second seasons, plus the five-episode Children of Earth mini-series. The mega sets also contain 10 hours of bonus materials, including deleted scenes, outtakes, featurettes and others that have been available in the earlier individual DVD sets of season 1
Both seasons and the mini-series are already on Blu-ray too, and complete series sets on both DVD
Torchwood: The Complete Original UK Series is priced at $119.98 on DVD and $129.95 on Blu-ray.
