New Release: Meet Monica Velour Blu-ray and DVD

Meet Monica Velour movie scene

Kim Cattrall is a 1980s porn star past her prime in Meet Monica Velour.

In what many might not think of as a major acting stretch, Sex and the City‘s Kim Cattrall stars as a former porn star who befriends a young fan in the 2010 indie comedy romance Meet Monica Velour, which arrived on Blu-ray and DVD from Anchor Bay on Aug. 16, 2011. It was priced at $34.99 and $29.98, respectively.

The movie kicks off with dweeby teenager Tobe (Dustin Ingram) setting out on a road trip to meet his favorite 1980s’ porn star, Velour (Cattrall), who’s making a rare live appearance across the country. Tobe is more than a little thrown when he meets the real Monica, a 49-year-old single mother who lives in a trailer in Indiana and strips in sleazy clubs to make ends meet. But that doesn’t matter to the wholly enraptured Tobe…

Written and directed by Keith Bearden and costarring the always-game Brian Dennehy (Every Day) and Keith David (The Princess and the Frog), this porn-dabbed coming-of-age film received a tiny release in theaters last month following its premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival last year.

Oh, and the movie is rated R as it contains sex and nudity, as you would expect in a flick about a porn star who works strips clubs.

The Meet Monica Velour Blu-ray and DVD each include a commentary track by Cattrall and Bearden and a collection of deleted scenes as bonus features.
