Vidal Sassoon: The Movie reveals how Vidal Sassoon has grown into far more than just a hairdresser. Today, he’s considered a kind of rock star, an artist, a craftsman who changed the way the world appreciates hairstyles.
With the renowned geometric, Bauhaus-inspired hairdos he pioneered in the 1960s (remember Mia Farrow in Rosemary’s Baby?) and his “wash and wear” philosophy that liberated generations of women from the “tyranny” of the salon, Sassoon revolutionized the art of hairstyling and left an indelible mark on popular culture.
Directed by first-time feature filmmaker Craig Teper, this 2010 documentary film traces the life and career of Sassoon (now 83 years old), the self-made man whose passion and perseverance took him from an orphanage in London to the absolute pinnacle of his craft.
Vidal Sassoon: The Movie received a limited release to theaters in the U.S. earlier this year, grossing approximately $90,000 at the box office.
