3D is apparently the format of choice for Pixar’s Oscar-winning family movie Finding Nemo. According to executive producer John Lasseter, the animated film was shot in 3D, so this release makes it available the way it was intended to be seen.
The movie also can be seen in 3D in theaters beginning on Sept. 14, 2012.
The 2003 film tells the story of a father clownfish (voiced by Albert Brooks, Drive) whose son, Nemo (Alexander Gould, TV’s Weeds), is captured in th Great Barrier Reef and taken to Sydney to join other fish in a tank in a dentist’s office. While Nemo and his father try to get back to each other, they both meet a host of underwater characters.
Ellen DeGeneres (TV’s Ellen: The Ellen DeGeneres Show), Willem Dafoe (Platoon), Brad Garrett (Hoodwinked Too! Hood v. Evil), Allison Janney (The Help), Geoffrey Rush (The King’s Speech) and Elizabeth Perkins ( TV’s Weeds) also lend their voices to the G-rated movie.
As well as winning the 2004 Best Animated Feature Academy Award, the film was nominated for its score, sound editing and screenplay.
The three-disc Blu-ray/DVD Collector’s Edition is available in both Blu-ray and DVD packaging. Each include two Blu-ray discs and one DVD.
The Blu-ray 3D set is a five-disc Ultimate Collector’s Edition, with two Blu-ray discs, one Blu-ray 3D disc, one DVD and a disc containing a downloadable digital copy of the movie.
The packages contain numerous special effects, including:
- 3D and 2D Virtual Aquariums
- CineExplorer
- and a Filmmaker Roundtable.
