Dick TracyWarren Beatty’s (Ishtar) colorful movie adaptation of the comic strip, Dick Tracy wasn’t loved by critics — or moviegoers — when it was released in theaters in 1990, but maybe it’ll make a comeback on high-definition Blu-ray.

Beatty directed and stars as the comic detective in the film. Madonna (Evita) plays Breathless Mahoney, who makes advances toward Tracy, and Al Pacino (Scarface) portrays Big Boy Caprice, whose mob causes Tracy lots of headaches.

Dustin Hoffman (Barney’s Version), James Caan (Middle Men), Kathy Bates (Titanic) and Catherine O’Hara (Best in Show) are also in the cast of the PG movie, which was written by Top Gun scripters Jim Cash and Jack Epps Jr.

Despite its reception, Dick Tracy won three Academy Awards, for art direction, makeup and the original song “Sooner or Later (I Always Get My Man).”

Disney restored the film for its Blu-ray debut, which also comes with a downloadable digital copy.
