Anna Kendrick (The Twilight Saga: Eclipse) tries her hand at acapella warbler in Pitch Perfect, a come movie that was well received by critics and moviegoers. Call it Glee in college.
The film stars Kendrick as Beca, who’s new in college and discovers she doesn’t fit in any clique. But she finds where she belongs in a strange place — an acoustic singing group alongside mean girls, sweet girls and weird girls.
Beca leads the group out of their traditional arrangements and perfect harmonies with new mashups and they fight to climb their way to the top of college music competitions.
Along with Kendrick, Pitch Perfect stars Anna Camp (TV’s The Good Wife), Brittany Snow (TV’s Nip/Tuck) and Rebel Wilson (Bridesmaids). Written by Kay Cannon (TV’s 30 Rock), based on the novel by Mickey Rapkin, the movie is the first feature directed by TV helmer Jason Moore (TV’s Brothers & Sisters).
The musical comedy grossed a tidy $61 million in theaters on decent reviews from critics, who praised Kendrick and Wilson for their performances.
Both the DVD and Blu-ray/DVD Combo contain these special features:
- deleted and extended scenes
- “Meanwhile…” alternative scenes showing what other characters are up to
- “Line-O-Rama” with actors showing off their improvisational skills for one-liners
- “Starships” music video
- “Backstage at Barden” profiles and interviews with characters Benji and Bumper
- “On the Set: Burrito Drive By!” behind-the-scenes footage with Fat Amy
- “A Look Inside” with the actor’s thoughts about their characters
