Red Dawn movie scene

Jeffrey Dean Morgan (l.) and Chris Hemsworth fightfor the U.S.A. in Red Dawn.

Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games), and Adrianne Palicki (Legion) star in the 2012 action-adventure film Red Dawn, a re-make of the popular 1986 movie about an attack on the continental United States by Russian forces.

In the new film, the unsuspecting citizens of Spokane, Washington, wake up one morning to the shocking sight of foreign paratroopers dropping from the sky in, yes, a surprise attack on the United States. This time around, it’s the North Korean Army that makes its move on the U.S.  Soon the entire region is under enemy control, but a group of courageous teenagers decides to fight back, waging an all-out war against the invaders, to take back their town and their freedom!

Directed by Dan Bradley, the film also stars Josh Peck (ATM), Isabel Lucas (Immortals), and Jeffrey Dean Morgan (The Losers).

The PG-13-rated Red Dawn received a wide release to theaters in the U.S. in November, 2012. Despite receiving only tepid reviews from the critics, the film rang up a not-bad $44 million at the domestic box office.

The Blu-ray/DVD Combo Pack of the film contains the following bonus features:

  • Original Theatrical Trailer
  • Red Dawn Rising
  • Building the Red Menace
  • Training for WWIII
  • WWIII Comes to Town
