The World's EndA pub crawl has never been more horrifying — or more funny — than in The World’s End.

Simon Pegg (Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol), Nick Frost (Paul) and director Edgar Wright (Scott Pilgrim vs the World) partner up again for this comedy-sci-fi movie, the third in Wright’s The Ultimate Three Flavors Cornetto Trilogy. The first two movies in the set were Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, and all three are also available in The Ultimate Three Flavors Cornetto Trilogy Blu-ray set.

In The World’s End, Pegg, who co-wrote the screenplay with Wright, plays Gary King, the former cool kid on the block who’s grown up and realizes his has nothing to show for his life. He convinces his now estranged circle of childhood friends to return to their hometown and try the ultimate pub crawl, the Golden Mile ending at The World’s End pub, a crawl they failed to finish years ago.

And what a group of friends he has, including Frost, Martin Freeman (The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey), Eddie Marsan (Snow White and the Huntsman) and Paddy Considine (Now is Good). Plus there’s the old flame, Rosamund Pike (Jack Reacher), with whom Pegg’s Gary “will always have the disableds.” (Watch the movie to find out.)

Rated R, The World’s End only grossed $25 million in theaters, but it was lauded by critics, who gave it 89% approval, according to Rotten Tomatoes. And we at Disc Dish can attest to its fun.
