About TimeThe writer of such great romantic comedies as Notting Hill, Love Actually and Four Weddings and a Funeral, Richard Curtis, is behind About Time, which stars Rachel McAdams (Morning Glory) and Domhnall Gleeson (Bill Weasley from Harry Potter) as the lovers with obstacles.

Domnhall Gleeson plays Tim, a guy who’s lower on the social chain. But the night after another unsatisfactory New Year party, Tim gets some interesting news from his father (Bill Nighy, Wild Target): They can travel through time, not to change history, but to change things in their own life.

Tim decides to use his newfound power to get a girlfriend (Rachel McAdams). But the more he travels through time, he discovers his gift can’t always save him from the ups and downs of life.

About Time Blu-ray boxRichard Curtis also directed the R-rated movie, which grossed only $15 million at the box office probably because of less than stellar reviews. Film Threat‘s Elias Savada did have one good thing to say: “In the end, it’s a charmer. For those of you who have liked Curtis’ previous rom-coms, come along for a lovely joyride…”

Both the DVD and Blu-ray contain these special features:

  • deleted scenes with introductions by writer/director Richard Curtis
  • “Blooper Reel: Making Movies is a Serious Business”
  • featurette “The ‘Luckiest’ Music,” about why Richard Curtis chose Ben Folds’ “The Luckiest” for About Time
  • music video for Ellie Goulding’s “How Long Will I Love You?”
  • commentary with Curtis and cast members Domhnall Gleeson, Bill Nighy, Vanessa Kirby (Charlie Countryman), Lydia Wilson (Never Let Me Go) and Tom Hollander (Hanna).

The Blu-ray/DVD Combo also carries three featurettes:

  • “About Tim and Time Travel” with a guide to the mechanics of time travel and where the idea came from
  • “The Look — Style and Locations” about the London and Cornwall locations
  • “The World of Richard Curtis” about how About Time fits into the writer/director’s work.
