The high-definition debut of Jerry Lewis’ (Rock-a-Bye Baby) classic comedy movie The Nutty Professor is this 50th Anniversary Collector’s Edition.
The beloved 1963 film stars Lewis as shy and bumbling chemistry professor Julius F. Kelp. Unlucky in love, Kelp makes a potion to help him attract his crush, student Stella Purdy (Stella Stevens, The Poseidon Adventure). The potion turns Kelp into smooth nightclub singer Buddy Love, and works beautifully to draw in Stella, but the unstable formula makes Love slip back into Kelp at the most embarassing moments.
The four-disc Nutty Professor 50th Anniversary Collector’s Edition contains the movie on Blu-ray as well as DVD, plus DVDs of two other Lewis films: Cinderfella and The Errand Boy.
Lewis helped compile the plentiful extras for the Collector’s Edition, which include two new items:
- “Jerry Lewis: No Apologies,” an intimate look at the comedian and his more than eight decades entertaining crowds
- Director’s Letter written by Lewis to present this collection.

The Nutty Professor
- Recreated “Being A Person” book: 96-pages made up of drawings and quotes inspired/written by Jerry Lewis and drawn by his personal illustrator. 250 copies of this book were originally made and distributed to members of the cast and crew of The Nutty Professor after the director heard of general conflicts among them.
- CD: Phoney Phone calls 1959-1972: Years before the Jerky Boys were harassing unwitting shop clerks, housewives and businessmen, Lewis perfected the art, as these recordings show. Released in 2001 on the Sin-Drome label, this is a collection of private prank calls secretly recorded by Jerry Lewis over the years.
