One of the year’s most talked-about films, the mystery-thriller Gone Girl, is directed by David Fincher (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) and based upon the international best-selling novel by Gillian Flynn. It stars Ben Affleck (Argo) and Rosamund Pike (Barney’s Version).
On the occasion of his fifth wedding anniversary, former writer-turned-bar owner Nick Dunne (Affleck) reports that his beautiful wife, Amy (Pike), has gone missing. Under pressure from the police and a growing media frenzy, Nick’s portrait of a blissful union begins to crumble. Soon his lies, deceits and strange behavior have everyone asking the same dark question: Did Nick Dunne kill his wife?
The R-rated film, which also features Tyler Perry (For Colored Girls), Neil Patrick Harris (A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas) and Carrie Coons (TV’s The Leftovers) in its cast, score with critics and audiences, garnering a 88% positive rating with at Rotten Tomatoes and ringing up $164 million at the domestic box office.
