Mississippi Burning (1988) tells the real-life tale of three young Civil Rights workers murdered in deep-South Mississippi.
The drama focuses on the FBI agents (The Conversation‘s great Gene Hackman and John Wick‘s Willem Dafoe) who arrive to investigate the crime among the region’s shacks and chicken coops, on Main Street, Mississippi, and in the dark backwaters where the Klan takes care of its own.
Directed by Alan Parker (The Commitments), the movie also stars Frances McDormand (Moonrise Kingdom) and Brad Dourif (One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest), the film features a lacerating screenplay by Chris Gerolmo, Oscar-winning cinematography by Peter Biziou (Richard III), and a score by Trevor Jones, which is available on this Twilight Time release as an isolated track.
