The Young Lions, the powerful 1958 World War II saga from the bestselling book by Irwin Shaw, makes its Blu-ray debut courtesy of Twilight Time.
The movie interweaves the stories of three soldiers: an apolitical German (Marlon Brando, On The Waterfront) caught up in a conflict he doesn’t understand, a Jewish American (Montgomery Clift, Red River) forced to suffer anti-Semitism from his fellow servicemen, and a sophisticated coward (Dean Martin, Who’s Got The Action) forced into war against his will.
Directed by Edward Dmytryk (Where Love Has Gone), the war drama also stars Maximilian Schell (in his first Hollywood role), Hope Lange (Blue Velvet) and Barbara Rush (Bigger Than Life), and features a sweeping score by the great Hugo Friedhofer, available on this Twilight Time release as an isolated track.
As supplier Twilight Time prints up only 3,000 copies of each title, be sure to keep an eye Twilight Time distributor Screen Archives’s for the announcement of the prebook date (usually 2-3 weeks before the title’s street date) and get ready to reserve!
