The 2015 comedy The Overnight stars Adam Scott (TV’s Parks and Recreation), Taylor Schilling (TV’s Orange is the New Black), and Jason Schwartzman (The Grand Budapest Hotel).
Alex (Scott), Emily (Schilling) and their son, RJ have recently moved to Los Angeles’ Eastside from Seattle. Feeling lost in a new city, they are desperate to find their first new friends. After a chance meeting with Kurt (Schwartzman) at the neighborhood park, they gladly agree to join family pizza night at their home. But as the night goes on and the kids go to bed, the family “playdate” becomes increasingly more revealing and bizarre as the couples begin to open up.
Written and directed by Patrick Brice, the film is executive produced by Mark Duplass, Jay Duplass and Adam Scott and produced by Scott’s wife, Naomi.
The Overnight enjoyed a limited theatrical release in July, 2015 to very positive reviews from the critics, garnering an 82% rating at Rotten Tomatoes based on 106 published reviews.
