Theo Albanis in The Winter

The Winter tells the story of an impoverished writer, Niko Gounaras (newcomer Theo Albanis) who leaves London for his ramshackle family home in the dusty Greek mountain town of Siatista.  Upon arriving, he discovers the home has been abandoned and is now haunted by the ghosts of the past.  Working to retain his grasp on reality, Niko sets out to uncover the mystery of his father’s death…

Presented in Greek with English subtitles, The Winter premiered at the 54th Thessaloniki International Film Festival in two sold out screenings. It went on to garner acclaim at Greek film festivals around the globe, including the 2014 NYC Greek Film Festival and this year’s San Francisco Greek Film Festival.
