The scripted film Michael Jackson: Searching for Neverland is based on the best-selling book written by the late Michael Jackson’s bodyguards, Bill Whitfield and Javon Beard with Tanner Colby.

Featuring the acting debut of Navi, a Michael Jackson tribute artist who worked closely with the pop legend as his body double for many years, the Lifetime Original Movie drama gives a view of The King of Pop both as both a  father and as a man enduring hardships during the last years of his life.

Hmmmm…..

Gotta admit something—to Searching for Neverland’s credit, it does a fairly good job of presenting the undeniably talented (and troubled!) Jackson as a flawed person, one who might even responsible for his own troubles (though arguably not deserving of what happened later on…). Navi’s performance was acceptable (his British accent breaks through the proceedings at times) and is at its finest when humanizes the man behind the legend. Overall, this Lifetime Original offers a solid commentary on the cult of celebrity and, in this case, one of the most unique ones of the past half-century.
