James Franco (127 Hours) returns to Lifetime as executive producer and star of the romance-thriller High School Lover.

Franco’s last involvement with Lifetime was for the channel’s 2016 remake of their own Mother, May I Sleep With Danger, wherein Franco served as executive producer, co-writer and star.

In High School Lover, 17-year-old Kelly (Paulina Singer, The Intern) sneaks out to the city one night with her friends, where she meets Hollywood’s hottest actor, Christian Booth (François Arnaud, TV’s The Borgias). To Kelly’s surprise, Christian contacts her and they begin spending time together. When her father (Franco) finds out about the relationship — and the wide age gap — he demands that Kelly stop seeing Christian. As Christian’s adoration turns into obsession, Kelly realizes that she’s put her family in danger.

Yeah, this sounds like a made-for-Lifetime flick alright!

This one was directed by Jerell Rosales and first aired on Lifetime back in February, 2017.

There aren’t any bonus features on the DVD, though we’ve gotta admit we’d love to hear Franco discuss how he first got involved with Lifetime and what collaborative plans they have for the future!
