Mexican filmmaker Rubén Imaz’s 2017 fantastical drama-mystery Tormentero tells the mystical tale of Romero, a retired fisherman in Mexico.

Years prior to his retirement, Romero discovered an oil field in his village caused his friends and neighbors to lose sight of their values and reject him. Now alcoholic, schizophrenic and haunted by his past, Romero sets out to reclaim the love and honor he lost decades ago after his fateful discovery.

The film stars Gabino Rodríguez along with José Carlos Ruiz and Mónica Jiménez. Last year, it played both the Cartagena Film Festival and South by Southwest Film Festival to positive reviews.

The film is presented in Spanish with optional English subtitles.
