Back in 1973, the TV movie The Girl Most Likely… was must-see viewing as is was written by everyone’s mom’s favorite comedian, Joan Rivers.

Directed by TV veteran Lee Philips (On the Right Track), the film stars as Stockard Channing (The Fortune) is Miriam Knight, an “ugly duckling” college girl who is mistreated by everyone, including her bubble-headed roommate and the callous campus jock. But after an accident causes her to undergo reconstructive surgery, Miriam emerges from behind the bandages a ravishing beauty. It’s payback time when she uses her new attractiveness to exact revenge on all those who wronged her. Ed Asner (TV’s Lou Grant) plays the police inspector who’s hot on the trail of the femme fatale…and catches her in more ways than one!

This delightfully dark crime comedy (presented here from a new 2K Master)  ages well enough and is worth taking a look at some 44 years later. And if you don’t dig the film proper, then maybe you’ll enjoy its strong supporting cast, which includes Jim Backus (TV’s Gilligan’s Island), Joe Flynn (The Strongest Man in the World), Chuck McCann (C.H.O.M.P.S.), Fred Grandy (TV’s The Love Boat) and Larry Wilcox (TV’s CHiPs).

Kino Lorber’s new edition include a commentary by authors Amanda Reyes and  Kier-La Janisse.
