The 2018 Beatles documentary The Beatles: Made on the Merseyside focuses on the early formative years of the Fab Four, with an accent on how the influence of American rock ‘n’ roll and R&B dragged post-war Liverpool into one of the most vibrant music cities ever with the Mersey Sound.

The doc features interviews with people who were on the scene during the Beatles’ early years in Liverpool and Hamburg, with material on the band’s previous band formations, gigs in Hamburg at The Cavern Club, and their move from skiffle to rock ‘n’ roll before creating their own unique sound.

Also included are newly filmed contributions from the ‘fifth Beatle’ Pete Best; Quarrymen Colin Hanton and Len Garry; Brian Epstein’s business associate Joe Flannery; The Beatles first ever secretary Freda Kelly; original Merseybeat magazine owner Bill Harry; and flatmates of John Lennon and Stuart Sutcliffe.
