Lost and forgotten for more than 50 years, and then found in a garage in New Jersey (!), the Deadline TV series ran for two years back in 1959. The show offered dramatized stories drawn from actual newspaper headlines of the late 1950’s, looking up to the newspaper reporters of the era–indeed, portraying them as bona fide guardians of truth and justice. Truly, at a time when print news media is rapidly disappearing and news reporters are being vilified as “enemies of the people” by a particularly portly political figure, Deadline has emerged from hibernation and is making its home video debut.

Hosted and narrated by Paul Stewart, and produced by Arnold Perl, the syndicated series features such talents as Peter Falk (Mikey and Nicky), Diane Ladd (Jake’s Corner), George Maharis (TV’s Route 66), Robert Lansing (4D Man) and more.

Film Chest’s three-disc collection of the anthology series includes all 30 half-hour episodes along with the following bonus features:

1. Episode Synopses
2. Photo Gallery
3. Trivia
4. Extended Synopsis: Journalism Past and Present Overview
5. Trailer
6. Interview with Broadcast Journalism Professor Joe Alicastro
7. Closed Captioning
