Random Media has just digitally released H4, which re-imagines Shakespeare’s plays Henry IV, Parts I & II in a futuristic Los Angeles that explores political struggles in the black community. The DVD incarnation is due on March 3.

Though radically updated, the dramas still maintain the themes they had when they were written: the strained relationship between a father and a son, the son’s defining moment of ascension, and the embracing of his inherited duty and royal destiny.

Directed by Paul Quinn, H4 stars Harry Lennix (TV’s The Blacklist), Angus Macfadyen (Titus) and Keith David (The Nice Guys).

Alongside the DVD, it’s available on various digital platforms, including iTunes, Google Play and Amazon.
