The visually resplendent Bernard Giraudeau (Marquis) and Valérie Kaprisky star in the sexy 1984 French drama Year of the Jellyfish (which sounds even sexier in French: L’année des méduses.

Set in Saint Tropez during mid-summer, this  coming-of-age story is a tale of obsession and sexual desire. A young woman, Chris (Kaprisky), vacations in an upscale beach resort with her mother, where it becomes clear that a layer of secrets and jealousy lay beneath the sundrenched paradise.  Chris has a crush on Romain (Giraudeau), her mother’s lover, you see. And in reaction to her inability to attract his attention, she experiments with other risque affairs…usually sans a bikini top.

English-born director Christopher Frank helmed this one.
