New Release: Monster House Blu-ray 3D

Monster House movie sceneSony Pictures Home Entertainment continued its push into Blu-ray 3D with Monster House, as promised when the studio released its first Blu-ray 3D title, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs. Sony debuted animated family movie Monster House on Blu-ray 3D on Sept. 14, 2010. The disc was priced at $39.95, the same as the Cloudy 3D Blu-ray. Also like Cloudy, the 3D Monster House includes a 2D version of the film, playable on existing Blu-ray players. The 3D version requires a 3D TV, 3D-capable Blu-ray player and 3D glasses (not the red/green kind, but the kind theaters now use). Monster House comes with these special features:

  • filmmaker’s commentary
  • “Inside Monster House” featurettes
  • “Art of Monster House” photo gallery
  • and “Evolution of a Scene.”

Released in theaters in 2006, Monster House grossed $73.7 million at the box office. About neighborhood kids who unravel a mystery about a strange house, the movie features the voices of Steve Buscemi (Corpse Bride), Catherine O’Hara (Where the Wild Things Are), Fred Willard (WALL-E) and Maggie Gyllenhaal (the upcoming Nanny McPhee Returns).
