New Release: The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond DVD and Blu-ray

Screen Media released the Southern period movie The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond on DVD and Blu-ray disc on Sept. 7, 2010.

Based on a never-before-filmed 1957 screenplay by the great Tennessee Williams, the film stars Bryce Dallas Howard (The Twilight Saga: Eclipse) as the young rebellious Memphis heiress Fisher Willow. Fisher defies the strict protocol of her Southern society when she hires her caretaker’s son (Chris Evans, Captain America: The First Avenger) to escort her to one of the major social events of the season, prompting a steamy, forbidden love affair.

Directed by Jodie Markell and also starring Ellen Burstyn (The Exorcist), Ann-Margret (Grumpy Old Men), Mamie Gummer (The Lightkeepers) and Will Patton (Armageddon), the PG-13-rated Loss of a Teardrop Diamond received a limited theatrical release last December, garnering some positive critical reviews but not much in terms of box-office gross.

Supplements on the DVD and Blu-ray include a behind-the-scenes featurette.
