New Release: Walking Vengeance DVD

Maya Entertainment released the Spanish-language crime thriller Solo Quiero Caminar under the English title of Walking Vengeance on DVD on Nov. 16, 2010, for a suggested retail price of $24.98.

Thought the literal English translation of the Spanish title is “I Walk Alone,” we’re thinking someone in charge felt that Walking Vengeance sounded more appealing or saleable than the original title. Or maybe they didn’t want potential buyers to confuse their film with the 1948 Hollywood noir I Walk Alone starring Burt Lancaster and Lizabeth Scott.

Either way, Walking Vengeance is actually a sequel to the 1995 critically acclaimed thriller Nobody Will Speak of Us When We’re Dead (Nadie hablará con nosotras cuando hayamos muerto). And like the original film, Walking Vengeance stars Victoria Abril (Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down!) and is directed by Agustín Díaz Yanes.

The movie revolves around Gloria Duque (Abril) and her all-women gang of thieves, which includes Ariadna Gil, Pilar López de Ayala and Elena Anaya. When one of the team, Ana (Anaya), is beaten up by a Mexican gangster (José María Yaspik) looking to move in on their turf, the women snap into action, along with the help of cold-hearted hit-man Gabriel (Diego Luna, Y Tu Mama Tambien).

Do we have to tell you that there’s lots of sex and violence thrown into the mix?
