Hot in Cleveland TV show sceneTV Land’s highest-rated sitcom, Hot in Cleveland, debuted on DVD on Jan. 11, 2011, from Paramount Home Entertainment.

The TV show stars four well-known sitcom actresses: Just Shoot Me‘s Wendie Malick, Frasier‘s Jane Leeves, One Day at a Time‘s Valerie Bertinelli and, of course, The Golden Girls‘ Betty White.

In its premise, Hot in Cleveland resembles the 1980s Golden Girls, in that the show revolves around three female friends and a fourth older female who’s very opinionated. This time, White is the older companion. She plays the caretaker for a house that novelist Bertinelli, eye-brow archer to the stars Leeves and former soap star Malick rent. Originally from Los Angeles, the three younger women stop off in Cleveland when their plane to Paris makes an unexpected landing. When they discover that they’re hot in Cleveland, they decide to stay.

Hot in Cleveland DVD boxIn its first season, the sitcom was the highest-rated and most-watched series in the history of the TV Land network. The second season launched on Jan. 19, 2011.

The Hot in Cleveland: Season One DVD was priced at $26.99.

The two-disc set contains the original full-length pilot and these special features:

  • wardrobe featurette
  • “We Love Our Age” featurette
  • set tour
  • and the full Japanese “Lady Pants” commercial by Malick’s Victoria.
