New Release: Hereafter DVD and Blu-ray

Hereafter movie sceneClint Eastwood tackles the living and the dead in his film Hereafter, which arrived on DVD, single Blu-ray and Blu-ray/DVD combo pack on March 15, 2011, from Warner Home Video.

The drama movie interweaves stories of people dealing with death. Matt Damon (Green Zone) plays George, an American blue-collar worker who tries to ignore the fact that he can hear the dead. French actress Cecile de France (High Tension) plays a journalist who has odd dreams after she has a near-death experience during the tsunami. And London schoolboy Marcus (played by twins Frankie and George McLaren) seeks answers when his twin is killed in an accident. Jay Mohr (Jerry Maguire), Bryce Dallas Howard (The Twilight Saga: Eclipse) and Derek Jacobi (Gladiator) also star.

Rated PG-13, Hereafter grossed $32.5 million when it ran in theaters in 2010.

Priced at $28.98, the DVD includes three featurettes:

  • “Tsunami! Recreating a Disaster”
  • “Hereafter’s Locations — Casting the Silent Characters”
  • and “The Eastwood Experience.”

The film’s Blu-ray was priced at $29.98 and Blu-ray/DVD combo pack, which includes a downloadable digital copy of the movie, was priced at $35.99. The special features package includes the featurettes on the DVD, plus six more:

  • “Is There Life After Death?”
  • “Clint On Casting”
  • “Delving Into the Hereafter”
  • “Twin Bonding”
  • French Speaking French”
  • and “Why the White Light?”

The Blu-ray also includes the 90-minute high-definition documentary The Eastwood Factor, which was released on DVD and Blu-ray in June.

A portion of the sales of the discs was donated to benefit Japan’s disaster relief.
