New Release: A Shine of Rainbows DVD

A Shine of Rainbows, a 2009 family drama set on picturesque Corrie Island off the Western coast of Ireland, came to DVD from 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment on March 15, 2011.

The movie concerns an orphaned boy named Tomás (John Bell, TV’s Life of Riley), who is adopted by Maire O’Donnell (Connie Nielsen, Gladiator) to live on the whimsical Irish isle filled with new friends, secret caves and a lost baby pup seal stranded on the coast. But when Maire’s reluctant husband Alec (Aidan Quinn, Handsome Harry) refuses to accept Tomás as his own son, the boy drifts down a fateful path of adventure and self-discovery, illuminating how rainbows can shine around — and within — us all.

A film festival favorite that received a limited release in U.S. theaters last April, A Shine of Rainbows was directed by Vic Sarin, a veteran cinematographer/television director who received an Emmy nomination for his photographic work on the 1992 TV series Millennium: Tribal Wisdom and the Modern World.

As a bonus feature, the movie’s DVD includes a making-of featurette.

The A Shine of Rainbows disc carries a suggested retail price of $22.98.
