James Garner hits the pit in Grand Prix.
Warner Home Video released the high-octane 1966 racing movie Grand Prix for the first time on Blu-ray on May 24, 2011.
The classic film stars James Garner (The Great Escape) as Pete Aron, an American Grand Prix driver who’s first from his team after a crash in Monaco injures his British teammate, Scott Stoddard (Brian Bedford, The Angry Silence). While his partner struggles to recover, Aron begins to drive for a Japanese team, while getting romantically involved with Stoddard’s estranged wife (Jessica Walter).
Also starring Eva Marie Saint (North by Northwest), Yves Montand (Is Paris Burning?) and Toshiro Mifune (Yojimbo), Grand Prix was directed with flair by John Frankenheimer (Seconds), who confirmed he knows a thing or two about fast driving with his helming of 1998’s Ronin.
Digitally remastered from original 65mm elements, Grand Prix on Blu-ray carries a list price of $19.98.
A two-disc special edition DVD
