New Release: Firebreather Blu-ray and DVD

Firebreather movie sceneOn March 22, 2011, Warner Home Video released Cartoon Network’s first original CGI-animated movie event, Firebreather, on DVD and Blu-ray.

Based on the comic book series written by Phil Hester and Andy Kuhn, the spellbinding film follows 16-year-old Duncan (voiced by Jesse Head, Summerland) as the new kid in school, who struggles with such normal teenage problems as making friends and bad luck with girls – while also dealing with orange skin and an appetite for coal instead of sandwiches. Such is the deal with the dude, who also has an overprotective mom (Dana Delany, TV’s Desperate Housewives) who wants him to lead a normal life, and a dad (Kevin Michael Richardson, TV’s The Cleveland Show) who wants him to take over the world! The show plays out as Duncan struggles to find his place as half-human and half-Kaiju – a race of ancient, powerful creatures.

Directed by Peter Chung, Firebreather premiered on the Cartoon Network last November, attracting an impressive 3.7 million viewers ages 2 and up.

The Blu-ray and DVD discs carry the list prices of $28.99 and $19.97, respectively.

Bonus features include the following:

  • 2D animation test
  • deleled scenes
  • animatics
  • visual development featurette
