New Release: Broken Hill DVD

Broken Hill movie scene

Luke Gordon and Alexa Vega find romance on the Outback in Broken Hill.

Second chances give dreams a chance to come true in Broken Hill, a Dove Foundation-approved musical family drama starring Alexa Vega (the Spy Kids series), Luke Arnold (TV’s The Elephant Princess) and Timothy Hutton (The Ghost Writer). The 2009 film arrived on DVD on May 17, 2011, from Entertainment One for a list price of $24.95.

The movie follows Tommy McAlpine (Arnold), who, born and raised on a sheep ranch on the Australian Outback, always dreamed of escaping life with his unpleasant dad but never got an opportunity to give his special musical gift a try. When he and spoiled rich-girl schoolmate Kat (Vega) are sentenced to community service for their antics, Tommy chooses to work as a prisoner training volunteer and thus turns his service into an opportunity to train a band of convicts to perform his premier musical composition.

Broken Hill received a limited release in theaters in the U.S. during the fall of 2009.

The DVD’s sole bonus feature is a commentary by writer/director Dagen Merrill.
