New Release: Equilibrium Blu-ray

EquilibriumSalt director Kurt Wimmer’s 2002 action movie Equilibrium come out on Blu-ray on May 10, 2011, from Echo Bridge Home Entertainment, and we can’t say enough how much we’re looking forward to it.

Starring Christian Bale (Oscar winner for The Fighter), the science-fiction film is set in a dystopian future when people are forced to take a drug to stop their emotions. Books, music and art are all forbidden, and Bale plays a top-ranking government agent responsible for destroying anyone who resists. But when a woman (Emily Watson, Red Dragon) is arrested for breaking the rules, Bale begins to wonder if his loyalties are on the right side.

Taye Diggs (TV’s Private Practice), Sean Bean (The Lord of the Rings), Sean Pertwee (Soldier) and Angus Macfadyen (Saw III) also star inthe film.

Although Equilibrium didn’t do anything when it hit theaters in a limited release back in 2002, the film has gained lots of fans (including us) since it has been on DVD for its awesome fight scenes (Bale is quite the bad ass) and against-the-establishment story line.

Echo Bridge put only one special feature on the disc, the behind-the-scenes featurette “Finding Equilibrium,” which was on the movie’s earlier DVD.

The Blu-ray was priced at $19.99.
