New Release: The Last Station DVD and Blu-ray

Oscar nominated biography film The Last Station came out on DVD and Blu-ray on June 22, 2010, from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.

Adapted from the best-selling novel by Jay Parini, the drama about the last days of writer Leo Tolstoy stars Christopher Plummer (The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus) as Tolstoy as he makes plans to donate his royalties to the Russian people and his wife (Helen Mirren, The Tempest) challenges her husband’s generosity. Paul Giamatti (Barney’s Version) plays Tolstoy’s disciple Chertkov, and James McAvoy (X-Men First Class) is the novelist’s assistant Valentin.

Plummer was nominated for an Oscar for The Last Station, along with Mirren.

Both the DVD and Blu-ray have these special features:

• commentary with Plummer, Mirren and director Michael Hoffman

The R-rated The Last Station was priced at $28.96 on DVD and $38.96 on Blu-ray.
