Margin CallAcclaimed film Margin Call is described by The New Yorker as “the best Wall Street movie ever made.” Eat your heart out, Oliver Stone.

Filled with an A-list cast, the timely drama movie is inspired by the true events behind America’s financial crisis. Stanley Tucci (Easy A) stars as Eric Dale, who gets laid off from an investment film. Before he’s escorted from the building, he sneaks a flash drive to his young colleague Peter Sullivan (Zachary Quinto, TV’s Heroes), who quickly discovers that the data on the drive could change the fate of the company — and maybe the whole country.

As the sensitive news is spread to more executives, they must make the high-stakes moral decision of whether to do what’s best for the company (and themselves) or what’s best for millions of investors worldwide. Guess what they choose.

Rated R, the thriller also stars Kevin Spacey (Horrible Bosses), Demi Moore (The Joneses), Paul Bettany (The Young Victoria), Jeremy Irons (TV’s The Borgias), Simon Baker (TV’s The Mentalist), Mary McDonnell (TV’s The Closer) and Penn Badgley (TV’s Gossip Girl). Told you the cast is good.

Margin Call DVD boxAnd critics loved the film. Rene Rodriguez of the Miami Herald said, “Margin Call is movie Oliver Stone tried to make with Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, only a lot less flashy and melodramatic — and sharper, smarter and with a much stronger cast.”

The first feature written and directed by JC Chandor, Margin Call also was an official selection of the Sundance and Berlin international film festivals.

The 109-minute film was released in theaters on a limited basis and grossed $1.5 million. So on DVD and Blu-ray, it’ll get its biggest audience. Sounds like a must-not-miss.

The DVD and Blu-ray include these special features:

  • audio commentary with Chandor and producer Neal Dodson
  • deleted scenes
  • behind-the-scenes featurettes.
