In Another Country movie scene

Isabelle Huppert thinks it over in In Another Country.

The 2012 film drama In Another Country is the first English-language entry from South Korean filmmaker Hong Sang-soo, a director described by the Village Voice as “the love child Antonioni and Hou Hsiao-hsien never had.”

The great French actress Isabelle Huppert (My Worst Nightmare) stars in the movie, which plays as a  triptych of overlapping stories. Huppert portrays three different French women—a  filmmaker, an adulterer and a divorcee—who visits a small Korean resort town. While there, she encounters a flirtatious director, a lovestruck lifeguard and far too much soju (Korea’s favored libation).

Following its premiere at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival, In Another Country was screened at a number of international fests and releases on a limited basis to theaters in the U.S. Critics reviewed the film favorably, with the most positive notices siting that Hong’s film had the hip, loose, laugh-out-loud feel of a lost French New Wave classic.

The DVD of In Another Country is presented in Korean and English with English subtitles. Check back for information on bonus features, which have not yet been announced.
