Adaptation

Image Entertainment has signed a multi-year agreement for Sony Pictures Home Entertainment to distribute the supplier’s DVD and Blu-ray titles. In a separate agreement, Sony has licensed an undisclosed number of titles to Image for distribution, including movies Adaptation, Absence of Malice and … And Justice for All, which Image will release on DVD and Blu-ray during the deal.

Directed by Spike Jonze, 2002’s Adaptation stars Nicholas Cage as screenwriting twins Charlie and Donald Kaufman struggling to adapt a book into film. The comedy is based on the book by Susan Orlean and co-stars Tilda Swinton, Chris Cooper, Meryl Streep and Maggie Gyllenhaal.

Recent Emmy Award winner Al Pacino (for his performance in You Don’t Know Jack) stars in …And Justice for All, the 1979 drama about an ethical lawyer who must defend a judge he despises in a rape trail.

1981’s Absence of Malice stars Paul Newman as the son of a long-dead Mafia boss who struggles to get his life back in order after a false newspaper story is written about him by Sally Fields.

As part of Image’s deal with Sony, Image will continue to use its own sales and marketing departments.
