New Release: Kaboom DVD

Kaboom movie scene

Ahhh, to be young and beautiful like Juno Temple (l.), Thomas Dekker and Haley Bennett in Kaboom.

IFC released the comedy Kaboom, from the always provocative independent film writer/director Gregg Araki (The Doom Generation), on DVD on May 31, 2011.

In Kaboom, Araki takes a bitingly funny look at the secrets that lie beneath an idyllic seaside town.

Thomas Dekker (A Nightmare On Elm Street) stars in the movie as Smith, an 18-year-old living the sweet life of a college freshman in beautiful Southern California.

Smith lusts after his straight roommate (Chris Zylka of the upcoming reboot Amazing Spider-Man), hangs out with his lesbian best friend (Haley Bennett, Marley & Me) and is trying to decide – if he can – whether he digs boys or girls. Teen sexual angst, however, gives way to more sinister concerns when Smith discovers that his small college town is also home to a mysterious and very deadly cult.

With its cast of gorgeous cast of guys and girls, dazzling cinematography and an adventurous feeling of sexual openness (both staples in Araki’s films), Kaboom will undoubtedly be prove to be another frisky feather in Araki’s well-worn hat.

No bonus features are on the DVD, which carries a list price of $24.98.
